Vital exhaustion can be the result of prolonged periods of increased exertion and stress and has been identified as an independent psychological risk factor in cardiovascular disease. This study examined the interplay of exhaustion levels and working conditions in more than 500 industry workers. High levels of exhaustion occurred in situations with adverse working conditions, such as excessive workloads or an adverse social climate.
